Today, we are learning about St Patrick's Day. Students had so many questions...
Why all the green? Why the elves? How does the gold and rainbows and clovers relate to this holiday? Who are Irish people? Have you ever met one? We wrote our questions down and what we already knew. Then we did some investigating! Here are some useful websites https://www.britannica.com/video/221890/did-you-know-Saint-Patricks-Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xyhc3S9RPw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vUIYSDss9c Students were fascinated to learn that the Irish are white people that faced discrimination and that they spoke a language other than English. We had rich conversations and students made many connections to immigration, religious discrimination, and traditions.
