For the month of December, all ESL students will be learning about animal habitats, food webs and how plants and animals are adapted to their surroundings. We will also explore how humans and our affect on the environment is impacting these delicate balances.
Some vocabulary words we are exploring are: Tundra, rain forest, ocean, grassland, desert, predator, prey, scavenger, consumer, producer, fresh water, salt water, animal, plant, decomposer, native species, invasive species, equator, precipitation, biotic, abiotic, etc. If you are looking for a way to support this learning at home, please go to the local public library branch, Blackstone (4904 S. Lake Park Avenue, Chicago IL 60615). They have a AV section with many titles by National Geographic, including Planet Earth for kids. This is a great shared reading selection! |
