I am so excited to see students from last year and also meet some new students to Ray. The first two weeks have been spent meeting students new to Ray and, based on their Home Language Survey, screening them to see if they need services. There were 30 new students to Ray, speaking 10 different languages!!! The diversity at Ray is one aspect that makes is this school so exciting and enriching.
This school year will be a bit different compared to last year. Last year, I would pull small groups and work with them various times a week. But, based on best practices and examining data, the other teachers and myself have decided on a push-in model. This means I will visit classrooms and help students while they are in their classrooms. This is ideal because students can receive assistance in the context of their classrooms and during their content area lessons and it also enables much more collaboration between myself and the homeroom teachers. I am excited for this new design and will take data to inform how well this model works compared to last year's model design. ACCESS scores from last year are also in. They will be shared during open house, so please come see me in room 106 if you are curious about the test, how your student scored, etc. This year will be a great year!!! Go Ray Warriors!!!
