This week, we are focusing on establishing a routine. We began with a read aloud of Say Hello! by Rachel Isadora. I stressed to students that similar to the book, there are many languages present within our school community. I also stressed that the objective of ESL is not to forget your first language because it is very important to our identity, but to add English, and learn other languages, too! We also reviewed alphabet names and sounds, introduced some vocabulary cards, began writing five new sight words, and read some passages to help with basic phonics.
